Hike Through History with the Crown Point Road Association
Each
summer hikes are conducted on various sections of the road. Members and
the general public are invited to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the
hardships and dedication of the road builders. Original bridges, stone
abutments, grave sites, camp sites, and abandoned cellar holes give mute
testimony to the courage and determination of our ancestors. The
Association hopes to encourage public awareness of the legacy these
pioneers left our country and our state. Membership is invited, but not
required to attend any of the events listed in this year's Calendar.

10:30 am
Ticonderoga, New York
- Tour Fort Ticonderoga on opening day. Meet in Fort parking lot.

Plymouth - Explore early encampment site. Meet at Tyson Church parking
lot, VT Route 100. Bring lunch.

Automobile Caravan - Marker Tour from Plymouth east to Springfield. Meet at Tyson Church parking lot, VT Route 100, to car pool. Bring lunch. Leader: Jim Moore 802-459-2837.

Cavendish - Hike CPR from 20-Mile-Stream Road to Chapman Road. Meet at
Proctorsville Elementary
School, VT Route 131. Bring lunch for
a picnic at Meadow Brook Campground.

Orwell - Hike Ti branch and visit historic house. Meet at
Whiting Elementary school, VT Route 30. Bring lunch.

Belmont - Annual meeting and pot luck dinner. IOOF
Hall, Belmont Road. Bring place setting and a dish to share. Speaker
will be David Lacy, U.S. Forest Service archaeologist. The public is
invited.
